Todd Thompson
Graduating from College in Oregon – OSU - in 1976 Todd went to work for Phillip Morris Tobacco Company and was trained in sales and then Professionally Managing a territory in west central Oregon. Soon after he married and decided to start a family moving back to Minnesota to be near his family. He went to work for International Multifoods; another large fortune 100 company, in their Feinberg Ruben retail sales division and developed accounts throughout the Midwestern states. After a few years in sales with them he had developed the largest sales account volume they had ever had (Hormel Meats) and was promoted to a Regional Sales Position in the southwestern part of the US. Shortly after that he was again promoted to the General Sales Manager position to a new division selling seafood and smoked fish – he traveled the US building broker/sales networks for a few years. Time and travel away from home while trying to raise a small family did not work and something had to change.
Todd decided to buy land in strategic areas and rezone for development and so he started his Real-Estate career in 1986 in the Western Suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota, zoning and developing land through a company he owned and developed called Tomac Development. The main project was a retail strip center, various retail out lots, and a number of parcels under option which were rezoned for development. Larger ventures beckoned and he soon joined Kraus Anderson – a large commercial Building and Development company in Minneapolis where he was employed as a Real Estate Agent involved in the development, leasing and management of over 5,000,000 sq. Ft of Retail, Warehouse/Industrial and Office Space. After a few years in Corporate driven real estate he decided to become more independent again and he left Krause Anderson to Join CB Commercial/ Minnesota (CBRE) – one of the largest independent commercial Brokerage companies in the area at the time. CBRE is/was a GREAT company with excellent training. In order to represent the company in all areas that they did business he eventually got his Brokers License to Market and Manage Properties in Minnesota and Wisconsin. After a number of years leasing, selling and managing Properties with CBRE Todd decided to venture into a new real-estate opportunity, in 1996 he started and managed a company called - West Coast Cuts - and purchased the development rights in the states of Oregon and Washington to develop and open over 200 Cost Cutter Stores (a Franchised Hair care saloon owned by the Barbers out of Minneapolis; He had leased space to a number of the Cost Cutter Hair Care franchise stores while working with CB Commercial and had become familiar with the store concept and opportunity that it presented to those who had the necessary background to capitalize on the expansion) Eventually the chain was sold to Regis, a giant in the industry and he decided to pursue new opportunities.
Todd liked the idea of something new and different and decided to try helping people in the employment arena and he was really good at it!
He worked for Management Recruiters as a Recruiter and developed a Recruiting Specialty in Process Engineers; Recruiting and Relocating Engineers for client companies. He then bought his desk of clients from Management Recruiters and started a company called Sigma Staffing, specializing in Process Engineering and Plant Management in the wire and cable industry. Over time the bulk of wire and cable manufacturing shifted, with a great deal of the business going out of the USA. He then left that area of specialization to work with Kaiser Hospital group, Recruiting and Relocating Physicians, and then spent many years working for HCA the largest Hospital Ownership Group in the world, again Recruiting and Relocating Physicians. He loved recruiting; working with the Physicians and helping them advance their career goals.
Life intervened and Todd and His Wife Nancy moved up to the Central Valley to be near Nancy’s family and working for HCA became impractical and that came to an end. Soon after, Todd had a stroke which left him unable to work for a number of months – after a complete recovery he decided to reinvent himself again
He missed the Real Estate Industry - helping people realize their dreams – and has taken his many experiences in both Real Estate and In Sales, Recruiting and Relocating People and become a Realtor who really knows how to communicate with his clients no matter what their needs are.
Todd joined his wife Nancy Berberian Thompson in 2013 to help her market and sell residential properties in the Central Valley.
Todd and Nancy currently live in Kingsburg /work the entire Valley and work through the brokerage FresYES Realty –South Valley
